Hey All,
I got these as Burmese shovelnose cats. I initially thought they were Sperata aor but now I'm also considering the possibility that they're S. acicularis. Whaddya think?

How many do you have?
I'm lucky enough to keep two & 17" & 14" respectively.
They are quite aggressive though & cannot be kept together - well at the very least mine cant!
Mine are taking Cichlid pellets from the surface but cant get them to hand feed....yet

I always thought aor was the one with the spot on the adipose.

not only aor even seenghala have black spot on adipose but acicularis have bigger and longer adipose (with black spot) compare to aor and seenghala.Tom wrote:I always thought aor was the one with the spot on the adipose.

Probably for the best Mark unless you can house more than one separtely.
At least if mine are anything to go by!
Not quite seen anything like it, even in the 8 foot if one was introduced & they where at opposite ends that would both immediatley raise their fins and change body posture & then circle each other before commencing battle! They where fine together for yrs until one day I noticed damage appearing on both of them, nothing major- just small fin splits & marks it's only if i watched them for hrs that I got to see them nip at each other so Ive seperated them - indeffinately.
Great fish though - will eat blooming anything, Cichlid pellets from the surface, the works.
