What is my Pseudacanthicus ?

Post by OlePaulsen »

Hello!

I got this one from a local fish shop as Pseudacanthicus sp. L065.
Its not simular to the ones I have from before.
Wonder if someone have seen this species and can tell me more about what and where it comes from, lokality.

He have a single black spot on one of the sidefins and around 10-12cm TL.

Thanks for help!

Hi
Looks like a L63 to me.

Maybe a close up picture will help. It is not a L65

I hope that will help.

I don't think this is L63, i think this is a species without any L-number and they have recently been smuggled out from Colombia, Peru and probably Brazil. I have never seen it before and I really doubt that the origin would be Rio tocantins.

I think that it has a resemblance of a variant of spinosus, either a L160 or L96, which i have one currently that is almost spotless, but the body is more greenish yellow, rather than having an orange-tinted fins like yours.

I have got her more than 2 years ago from a batch of spinosus shipment. What do you think...

Interesting....

What is the color of his dorsal fin?
Better pictures most definitely help us to ID these beauty and if there is not an L number for him at least We'll know for a next time.

He seems to be darker then before or maybe is the picture.
In my opinion it still doesn't help us to ID correctly your specie.
