Shy L128

Post by Blackhawker »

My L128 has been quite shy since I got him, woudl you attribute that to stress? Also would getting other friendly Plecos help him to feel more comfortable?

Mine are pretty shy too.

It's hard to make shy fish unshy, but providing good cover, feeding them just before lights out. Having "friends" certainly helps a bit.

other fish may well reduce shyness but not necessarily other plecos - some peaceful shoaling tetras etc may be the best bet

Lou: It's still a three-way!

I've had the guy for 3 days now, think it'll take more time for him to get comfortable?

Maybe. But it's also a catfish, and the default expectation should be shyness.

I have found 2 things which make a difference:

1) size - my 4" - 5" ones are not very shy at all.
2) keeping a group of them - when I had one it was pretty shy.

I plan on having two L128 with one L200, would you lump em in with the L200's?

Not a good idea. These fish are closely related, and if you keep them well, you may find that they cross-breed, and that's not something we'd like.

If you like the L200 look, get the which isn't related. That's what I plan to do. I got some coming next week hopefully. Once I get those, I'm putting my 2 L200 up for sale, so some lucky guy is going to get a good deal.

Well I dont plan on breeding them, but simply keeping them in the same tank. PM me and let me know how much you would be willing to part with those two L200s!

Hahaha....I'm in Canada. The shipping would kill you. Easier for you to find someone who has them in your area.
