Feeding Suggestions For Plecos In Strong Currents
Just curious if anybody has any suggestions for feeding plecos in strong currents. Food tablets are easy to feed, but really I am talking about bloodworms, brine shrimp etc. I just place it near the bottom and they seem to find it, but I am sure that I lose the majority of the food. Any ideas?
Hi Clay,
I have the same situation as yours. No problem with tablets or dried food, but when it comes to feeding frozen bloodworms, I had to switch off all the filters for a while. The current is strong enough to push 3/4 of the worms into the filters. I try not to keep the filters off for too long though, might kill off some of the benificial bacteria in it.

out of interest, i feed my zebras frozen bloodworm and other frozen foods.
i switch off my power heads so that the food stays still long enough for them to eat, they always come straight out and eat it, maybe cos they know my filters take it away too quick - OR
I only feed them ONCE a day, always TWO frozen cubes, a mix of daphnia or bloodworm, or krill etc.
Am i feeding my zebra's enough ? the lfs feeds their stock hikari algea wafers twice a day, but they look so under nourished.
