Man, that's sad. I lost a while I was away on business last week and I was pretty depressed. I can't imagine how hard it is to lose so many prized fish. Hope things look up for you and your fish soon.

christophe,
best is to add another catfish to this tank (any species) wait until the symptoms occur and then act fast to bring the ALIVE fish to
NAFUS in Bern

this is the only way to check what the fishes have...the animal needs to be alive !!

Surely someone local has a largish Ancistrus or common pleco that can be sacrificed for the good of the many!

I will act like this with a "test fish" within the next few days. But actually, I still have Brochis, Botias, Ancistrus sp Paraguay and Otocinclus in the same tank... and they don't seem affected at all...

I will try the test fish in a while, with a middle sized Gibby or something so. I can always find a few of them in my FLS... and it won't cost me an arm.

I'll keep in touch.

Hi Chris.
I do apologize for digging this out, but did you find out what was the cause of you loosing your spectacular fish ?
I dug this after reading your great L25 breeding tale. So sorry about the ending...
I hope you found and solved the cause of this loss

no problem... This tank doesn't exist any more and has been replaced by a 10000 liters with Potamotrygon, Cichla, Arowanas and big Panaques...

never found out the exact biological cause of this disaster... what I know for sure is that the L14 were healthy individuals with a germ, a virus or a bacteria invisible to sight... and when they all began to look for troubles for territory, I began to have losses...

what was really strange is that ONLY big Loricaridae were concerned... not a single problem with Myleus, nor Retroculus... Still don't know what happened...

I had a 1.5 year of fishhobbying sadness/madness and then, I recovered with this wonderful actual tank (from 2011), which is a blast and make my day every morning before going to job !
