local catfish retailers?

Hello.

Sorry, but I'm new to this forum, and in other forums I'm on, there are specific areas where these questions are posted; I couldn't find such an area here, so I'm sorry if I've broken a rule...

That being said, my question is, are there any members here from the Greater Toronto Area (Canada) that know of a LFS as a good source for cats (either in rarity of types or in quantity of fish)?

You are fine posting here. It would perhaps help if you said what sort of catfish you are interested in - many people tend to like specific types of catfish, e.g Plecos, Synos, Corys, Pims, etc, etc.

I guess I prematurely asked the question, since I'm not entirely sure what cory I'm looking into. In another post, I'm trying to find out what cat would be suitable for a setup I'm planning in a 10gal. It'll be South American, and obviously I was looking for a small peaceful cat.

Where do most members here buy their stock? I would imagine that certain types of plecos, synos and corys would almost never be found in LFS's. Is it all online, or do they buy from each other (other local hobbyists)?

Hey Mats,

Sorry... I replied here before I read my other post where you touched on the LFS issue. I hear what you're saying about "area" being relative. Also what you mentioned in that thread about "mom & pop" shops, and their wholesalers makes total sense. I've also found what you said about they being willing to order, but also limited in WHAT they can order to be very true.

Toronto being quite a large city (5 mil in GTA), there are 2 or 3 larger "mom & pop" LFS's around, and will ask them for their list. Thanks for the tips.

Not all shops share their list as such, but they will take "requests"...
