Wow! 1,000 pounds for a panaque cf cochliodon   .These fish must be ultra rare to be valued at this price.I think someone must need a personal loan to buy this fish .

The fish has been in Wildwoods for at least 4 months by now, as I have a picture message on my phone from the 11th of October of this fish. Yes, they are fairly rare - they , they come from an area in Colombia that doesn't get much capture for the aquatic trade - until not so long ago, it was completely unsafe to even visit the area because of militant gangs being in control of that area. And I'm not entirely sure it's safe at this point either, but it's perhaps possible to visit the area if you bring enough cash and talk to the right people nicely... They are not cheap on the exporters list - in fact, if the listing from an exporter I have is the USUAL price, then the £1000 pricetag is not the same markup as you get for smaller fish. Let's just put it this way, if you buy P. suttoni (as it's listed right now), you could get more than 100 LARGE P. nigrolineatus. Now, in the shop here, a large P. nigrolineatus will cost a whole lot more than £10... Yes, I know, shipping cost will be added to the price, but I'd say the markup is also bigger.

L366 is a species, so it will grow fairly large - I'd expect at least 8" SL based on the size of the other members of the genus - could be wrong. If you get it, try to get some decent photos and post in the ID section - and then send them in for publication in the Cat-eLog - there is no image at all at present.

Not much on Google either. If this is the right fish, looks like it gets to a decent size:

Doesn't look like the description of Leon's: "black with nice white spotted".

No... It's labelled as L366 but who knows wehn we have nothing to compare it to! Could be a differently coloured juvenile of course. Be interesting to see a pic.

There is a picture and some data in German here:
http://www.l-welse.com/reviewpost/showp ... 1144239693

You can probably use google translate to get a English-ish version of it. There is a link to a "bigger picture" just under the picture.

Doesn't look quite like the fish in the other picture, nor like the description...
