He is looking good, alright
Because he has started eating I will wait at least one week before I take him out to photograph again. I don`t wan`t to stress him to often.

Yes, I have never had such a close relationship to a single specimen. Therefore the cheesy naming. Next time i Photograph him in 2-3 weeks I believe he will have adult coloration.
Looking forward to the next spawning.

Re: Breeding Ancistrini sp. L082
Hi
Just curious but are you going to be doing anything different than what you did to induce the first spawn with the next one?.
And have you come to any conclusion as to the amount of infertile eggs in the first spawn other than down to first time trial spawn thing or do you think it could be down to another factor like flow in tank, temp of water, size of cave ect.
I know you know your fish stuff but you must have wondered as to why this has happened I find this one of the more fascinating parts of breeding fish I know i'm no where near your standard but at any level of breeding fish these questions and answers are basically the same and just as interesting to find out.

No, but I believe the next spawn will be successful. The first clutch were probably old eggs.jerry58 wrote:Hi

I believe everything was close to perfect. I simply blame the poor condition of the eggs being laid. Maybe this is wrong?jerry58 wrote:And have you come to any conclusion as to the amount of infertile eggs in the first spawn other than down to first time trial spawn thing or do you think it could be down to another factor like flow in tank, temp of water, size of cave ect.
I believe failure in attemptive breeding is quite normal for some species. The defitive reason in each case I don`t know.jerry58 wrote:I know you know your fish stuff but you must have wondered as to why this has happened I find this one of the more fascinating parts of breeding fish I know i'm no where near your standard but at any level of breeding fish these questions and answers are basically the same and just as interesting to find out.

Re: Breeding Ancistrini sp. L082
And he dont longer looks like a punk rocker... I think it would be a good idea of you putting together the pictures to one showing the development in the fry, like Jools said... this can be a key for a new family "Havardiencis" ;)

Re: Breeding Ancistrini sp. L082
Uno is now an older brother
On Tuesday 155 eggs were laid. On Saturday I lost 20. (They turned white) On Sunday I lost 2 (turned white). Monday I lost 20 due to leakage and premature hatching, an Tuesday(today) I lost 31 due to leakage. The total number of healthy hatch-lings today are 82.
Cheers:)

Re: Breeding Ancistrini sp. L082
You see, I told you they will breed again and than again ;) Can you provide me with the correct water parameters... everything, and I will try to explain for you why the eggs leakage and or are to early hatched. I have had that problem a few times too and it's always the water (me to lacy not keeping the water on top).

Its so amazing looking thru this thread from front to back, its like a mini novel and its truly amazing pictures and fine detail you give is just incredible, I learned so much in last hour reading this, I feel as if I owe you something in return But uno is got to be the most popular talked about lil guy on this site right now and I would keep him for a momento not to mention first f1 to survive in captivity~~!!! I hope you get more spawns and able to get a future breeeding colony down the road, I didnt even know of the L082 until now and they are gorgeous.. I dont even think its possible to get them now? I never seen any forsale.. but goodjob keep us updated and posted.. I love all your fish and tank setups, you truly have a great passion for this hobby and it is a priveldge to read your in depth posts and instructions on raising and successfully breeding these diff types of species.
