ID on Black, yellow spotted CF.
I bought this beautifull Catfish a 1.5 years ago from a Discus dealer here in the netherlands.
I did save the ticket which contained it's name/number at that time, but currently I am unable to find it.
Anyone who could ID my Catfish.
This is the best picture i have as it's very shy it's pretty hard to get a picture of it in whole.

Sexing can be by one of several things, body shape and in some species bristles on the body and around the head, and along the pectoral fins.
You'll see from your picture that your fish has bristles along it's pectoral fins, so as Rupert says, is a male. Now I wouldn't have a clue as to which species it was, but Racoll is one of the many experts on these forums, so can pretty much guarantee he'll be right.

As Martin said, the males have "hairy" pectoral fins and those spines under the eyes, called interopercular odontodes. Females also have these but less so. The males also get really hairy on their body towards the tail. You can just about make this out from the picture.iljasas wrote:How do u identify if it's Male or Female?
Well, there are lots of anatomical diagnostic characters, such as spoon-shaped teeth in Panaque. This is how a scientist would define a Panaque.iljasas wrote:And even recognize it's a Panaque ?
I can't see many of these, but its just experience in looking at the general body shape and colouration. There are only a couple plecs that are black with orange spots, and P. albomaculatus is the most common one. I used to keep one, and I recognise them well. Very nice fish, although mine was a bit aggressive
