L204 breeding tank.
Hey guys, just need some different opinions on this.
I have a 150l tank which has been running for about 6 months, which houses 4 L204, now im looking to get another 2 maybe 4, so my question is, do you think a 150l tank would be big enough. If it isnt then what would be best?
Cheers
Andy

Re: L204 breeding tank.
Hi Andy,
I think is an the small side for that many adult L204.
They get to be pretty big after a few years, It may be fine for awhile if you have subadults.
A 2 X 4 ft base(the area that matters most) would be about the minimum size I would probably consider.
Unless you already know all of the fish's sexes, it is quite possible you may not end up need them all. Too many extra males doesn't help.
But I think 3 males and 5 females would make a good balance if you want a total of 8 fish in the group. These guys don't seem to form actual pairs and a little competition among the females for a male's attentions seems to be helpful.
It's probably impossible to use too much filtration with L204's. 8 can generate their volume in "saw dust" in a week.
Farid has a lot of good info in his thread, http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... =4&t=26861

Re: L204 breeding tank.
Thanks for that, at the moment the 4 i have are about 3.5 - 4 inches TL at the moment, and im preety confident i have one male, the others i really couldnt tell. (im not the greatest at sexing yet, still learning) I have been doing alot of research on these guys and reading all the post concerned, they"ve all helped me so much.
I just want to give myself the best chance i can in breeding these. Having 8 of them, i just thought that might help?
Thanks for the help
Andy

Re: L204 breeding tank.
Hi Andy,
Your L204 are still rather small to be certain of the sexes of all of the fish in your group. These fish can be tricky to sex compared to some of the plecos.

med 4 stk så tror jeg det skulle gå greit med en 150 liter
