tank choices
Hi,
i'm about to get a new tank because i managed to convince my parents for a third tank.
but the size limit is down to 100 litres or less because of budget. i was thinking of getting a aquastyle 620 because of its useful external filter or maybe the aquastyle 510.
and i was thinking which tank would be suitable tank and what kind of decorations should i add and i was also thinking of putting my 2 adult fish in this new tank (of course after its cycled) because i suspect that i might hav another male in this tank. its a juvenille but its body shape and i can see small facial hair like things poking out.
if you can help it would be really great

Re: tank choices
I personally would go for a tank that has a lower/longer/wider shape - the Aquastyle tanks are quite tall (52 cm) in relation to the base area - this makes them look stylish, but particularly for keeping bottom dwellers that like high oxygen levels, you want as large a bottom surface for the fish to live on, and as much top surface to allow good oxygenation of the water [obviously, as long as the tank walls are vertical, the bottom and the top are the same size].

Sorry, not sure what tanks you have in Australia, or how much they would cost, so I can't say.DJ-don wrote:oh ok do u hav any good tanks in mind?

Re: tank choices
Juwel Rekord 70, by any chance?
It's a decent tank, but may be a bit small if you plan on raising bristlenose fry in the tank - it would probably be better to go for the next size or two up from that (there is Rekord 80, Rekord 96, Rekord 110 and Rekord 120 too).

Re: tank choices
Well, if you have another tank for the fry, then I wouldn't worry too much - or if you can do water changes every two - three days...

Re: tank choices
on sunday i talked to the manager of the store (he's a good friend of mine), and he said the juwel rekords wont come in for another 4 weeks he also said not even bother buying a fancy tank if im attempting to breed catfish he said i could get cheaper 1's just by buying glass tanks and adding a filter and just a few spawning spots.
i m not sure what to go for the fancy juwel rekord 86 or just a big normal glass tank
i need some adivce
thanks

Re: tank choices
Well, yes, simple all-glass tanks are cheaper - especially if you don't need (or plan to replace) all/most of the things you get with it. You don't even need lights for the fishes - only for the keeper!
