rubbernose plecos-captive bred or wild caught?

Post by degrassi »

Hi, I'm jsut wondering if the rubbernose plecos i see in the LFS are captive bred or wild caught? I know some people have bred them but i'm not sure if they are bred on a big scale like bristlenose or common plecos are.

Hi!

Most of these that you will find in shop are usually wild caught fish , so far not many Loricariidae from the sub family Ancistrinae are tank raised, still it exist but at a very small scale, so it is unlikely your are tank bred, except if someone in your area are breeding them and sell some of the youngster to the shop you are going to!
Cheers
