Oh MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it! Ive tried before with 1 male and 2 females, but the male just beat the heck out of the females.......they were housed in a 150 gallon tank, but I think my next try will have to take place in a 200 gallon tank.......I also collect all of the fish you have in the tank but I've never been able to keep Retroculus alive more than a year! Are you using a reverse osmosis system on the tank?

I'd love to have a few of those juveniles........what does their diet consist of? I usually fed my adults lots of bloodworm and frozen krill.

You can simply call me Chris...   just kidding...

and for answering your questions, I only use RO when I want to stimulate the fishes... rest of the time, I simply use tap water (GH 14, Kh 8 from Switzerland mountains). For the Retroculus, it's a German breeding and I have F1, which is much easier...

for all that tank, I feed with frozen krill, Hikari chips, Tetra Prima diskus, Sera Viformo most of the time... Sometimes, a bit of white flesh fish, and when I have some, shrimps...

It's always very pleasant for my ego to have such reactions  Pleasant, but not good

I remember a bar next to Broadway where the bourbon was smelling and tasting Chlorine because of the ice served with it.

I have a quite good idea of the water quality in your part of the world

But to be honest, in Switzerland, I'm very lucky to live in a preserved area with no too much urban and industrial disturbances... That's not the case everywhere around here.

Hello!!!

They are just butiful!!! I'm lost for words!

Whos the parents! Are they getting in breeding condition? Are you going to keep the second male? Is there any risk for fights between the two males?

Best regards

The female is getting thicker, but I'm not sure it's about breeding... maybe too much good quality food  I did nothing to stimulate them again, cause my nurseries are full crowded and I can't afford to raise another spawning yet... I left for five days in South France last week and the L320 babies paid a too big tribute because of it : 5 days without correct feeding -> 30-40 % of dead in the next days... I still have around 120 babies, but it's very sad...

The L25 babies were old and fat enough to endure this 5 days diet without any problem...

I will lead this present batch of L320 till September and then, I'll try something new with the L25.

For the second male, there's no problem, the tank is big enough for all his population, and there's no fight between them all. So, I'll keep it.

Just a note that I intend to run the L25 breeding article in the next couple of days, it'll be added to the Shane's World reproduction section.

It wasn't too bad. The English was good, just needed a bit of work on punctuation and layout and, as you know, adding little bits of information that people not following this thread might not have known. It's finished now with pictures added too. Hope everyone likes it!

It is always good to keep a spawning log (which I fail at most times) what I found most interesting is reading Christoffer's extra thoughts, speculations and worries as he worked through this spawning and raising of the fry.

Hi everyone...

a piece of bad news... Yesterday, I found 2 of those f...ing stupid idiot juveniles, stucked into the Anubias roots ! I guess they wanted to hide inside it and they stood blocked inside, hooked by their very impressive pectoral fins... I have seen it at 9pm and they were dead... I'm sure if I had seen it in the morning, I could have done something safe for them...

So, there will only be 9 of them to take the trip to Hannover in November. Sorry Harvaard...

Now the tank is reduced to his strict minima : bare bottom, 4 caves, 2 stones and nothing else...

Fortunately, the 20 juveniles I sold in the shop in Yverdon are very fine (when I last had news in early August) and go on growing (a bit slowlier in fact)...
