Hello, I need help identifying this fish.
This fish lives in clear waters from north of Venezuela, is about five centimeters.

It's a of some kind. Not easy to identify to species, though.

I love it; my kind of catfish.

these are fun to keep, especially when you give them a sandy substrate instead of gravel

they hide in it and 'pop up' and zoom around like little racing cars when you put food in the tank.

It's a shame this catfish family has such a bad reputation, but I suppose it's inevitable.

Of course all my papers are packed and on their way to Uganda.... The only species described from the Rio Tuy system is , which was described from a quebrada near Chacaito. Was it found on the south side of El Avila in the Caracas valley or on the coastal side towards the airport?

looks like a weather loach to me i see them all the time, they go in the gravel and move everthing around funny things to watch.

I got to admit, there is some similarity between loaches and the fish above. But loaches come from Asia, Europe, perhaps Africa but not from Venezuela (perhaps a local LFS :lol: )
