SYNO MULTIPUTAS

Post by Laknarf »

I have a 55 gallon tank that has 2 syno multipunctatus (sp). I plan on putting 6 or 8 smaller size (25 cent coin size) angel fish into the tank along with one larger breeding size angel. Will the synos create a problem for the angel fish with their long fins?
Thank you for your help

Aside from the fact they both prefer very different conditions...they most likely will not bother each other as far as behavior goes if they were larger, unless a pair of angels started to get territorial.

But with the smaller ones Is the size of a quarter the body size or overall size including fins?

If body size than I would say should be okay.
If overall size than would be a risk IMO.

Thanks for your reply Birger
The smaller ones would be the body size of a quarter, not including fins.

I know thatifI tried to start netting the 2 synos that my blood pressure would hit 300 :beardy: :beardy: and who knows what else

There are easy ways to catch the synos.

Try getting a foot long length of pipe. Don't feed for a few days. get a food tablet in the middle of the pipe & put it flat on the floor of the tank with lights off & one end against the glass. After a bit the syno should go in the pipe to get the food & you stick the net over the other end & bingo, job done.

Thank you :D - years of suffering have shown that there is a certain way to catch most species of fish, someone, somewhere will know if you ask

I have done a similar thing with young sun cats when trying to catch them, but didn't use a net, or bait, I just kinda tried to grab both ends when he went in before he got out...I got stung.

BTW can fetherfins and sun cats get along? :?: and do you have anyways of catching a female yellow lab while holding?
keep it real!

They should as long as the tank is large enough, which it should be anyway for the H.brachysoma

Net her at night...have a net ready, turn the light on after leaving the fish in total darkness and you should have a couple minutes to snag her.
