Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?

Hello from Bathgate to all.
I'm very sorry to hear those sad stories of fishes being ill or even worse. It seems many people are having problems atm with C. perugiae for various reasons. I truly hope eventually everything will return to normal: no more dead fish and full recoveries!
Over here everything is great. Jools' fish room is simply amazing and crammed with nice species. I personally like the Neosilurus a lot.
Wrt auchenipterids:
Martin, your spec 2 are doing fine and I'd like to thank you once more for them. I know you've had problems with them, so I hope you don't feel sorry you've given these to me and now being faced with having just one (if I counted correctly) yourself......
The A. punctatus I expected turned out to be A. coracoideus, which I didn't buy but were taken by Jools.
Jools also has some spare C. reticulatus for me, which we'll be checking out tomorrow. He's offered me a pair to accompany my single female specimen.
The last assets are 6 Helogenes marmoratus, which are no auchenipterids but cetopsids. Expect some pictures shortly.

Glad to hear you arrived safely!
No, am not sorry, am just really pleased the specimens you have are, as Jools would say, rude - I still have two left (a pair), so all is not lost here.
Sounds like a worthwhile visit, and look forward to more pics of your new assets, along with more of Jools' fish room.

We do appear lucky in the UK in some respects..... maybe not so much in other aspects though.....i wish i could get hold of Noturus!

Thanks (again*) for the link. (* I did already reply to it Wednesday evening, but an internal server error made the message disappear and I was too tired to do it again).
Of course I was/am interested, yet the time schedule didn't permit a visit on our way back to Newcastle. We didn't feel like hurrying; besides we were very pleased with the fishes mentioned above by Jools.

We've all arrived home safe & sound; the fishes are now in their new tanks after having been bagged for nearly 27 hours. We had a smooth trip home, except for the Dutch A2 which has apparently become a national building site, so traffic was very slow.
Thanks again to Jools, Clare & Jacob for being very hospitable. Pictures of fishes (nice parts of Scotland may sneak in as well) soon, but I wouldn't count on today

Racoll bred them & his offspring are for sale in MA Wheatley, he passed on the adults (i think) to Jools. They are a lovely fish & don't get too big.

Wish I were...... It's going to be quite hard to picture them anyway, except for the Pseudohemiodon. Martin's Tatia sp.2 won't sit still for a second once out of their cover, Helogenes are strictly nocturnal and very surface bound (which makes the flash useless - any tips?) and the C. reticulatus really like to be out of sight.
Still, I'll give them a try - sometime

@ Richard: your remarks wrt the Pseudohemiodon are correct

@ nvc: don't worry, you'll find some nice auchenipterids in due course. Mind you, it took me about 7 years to collect the fishes I keep atm.

tip for the Helogenus; use an angle, not just in the vertical plane, but also diagonal, make a bit of a barrelroll when pointing the camera

another tip: make sure the room is dark, this means curtains and also: the other tanklight must be off!

lastly, fill the tank well, a bit too full if needed, cause the lightstrip between surface and hood must not be there.

I'll show it to you when I'll drop in next week ;)

Here are two tank shots.

This one is C. reticulatus

This one contains many auchenipterids, among which 2 new Tatia sp 2. One before the thermometer in full motion (thus blurry); the other is just above the large Anubias leaf on the left.

First change made: the Pseudhemiodon didn't like being in the same tank with the larger Tatia, for these are far to ungainly towards them. So the small plecos have gone to the tank pictured above and the Loricaria melini will go the opposite way after I've added a nice piece of marshwood into the other tank.

Here's another shot of that tank with lights still on. Add some Tetra flakes and see the small auchenipterids come to live
Btw: the Entomocorus are confused by the new Tatia spec 2 for they will chase them like they chase each other; a thing that has never occurred so far with C. perugiae, cf. altae, reticulatus or T.gyrina.
Wrt the latter two species I'd like to add that these are very bottom orientated; an observation Jools had also made wrt his group of C. reticulatus.

Just like to tell you about my new acquisition - Richard B has very kindly given me his female

Liosomadoras oncinus

and she has joined my existing juvenile (who is growing well). When she went in, the smaller jag immediately vacated it's place under the bogwood and came out, but it looks like they have all found places to settle now. I'd say she is a good 6", and very plump - markings are perfect 'jag' and I'm pleased as punch to be able to give her a new home. I'll get some pics of her over the next few days.
A huge thankyou to Richard, and it was good to meet you today and finally put a face to a name.

They are great at being active with the lights on aren't they! My remaining pair will always appear if food is added, and appear to have no issues as to whether the lights are on or not, although they will stay out longer if it's dark.
I'm so pleased they have settled in and and mixing well with your other aucheniperids - I now have to start looking again and hope to be able to eventually add some small

Indeed and that's again proof of what this site may do! Helping each other out in a lot of ways.
Wrt replacements: I'm pretty sure small auchenipterids will pop up sooner or later. Keep checking exporters/wholesalers lists (if possible) and when in doubt wrt a common/native name, don't hesitate to post.
