P.H. for Zebras

Post by plecoboy »

Hello, any ideas on lowering P.H.? I have a 55 gal zebra tank. I have tried to use drops to lower the P.H. but it doesn't seem to help. :D Thanx

you can try using peat or switch to a buffer instead of drops

Peat may be a better idea. Depending on the water you get in your region, its buffering capacity may already be high enough.

How do you administer the peat? I've never really seen it for sale in pet stores. :D Thanx

Generally as a filter medium (Hagen offers peat granules as a filter medium for the Fluval filters, although you might be able to find a cheaper method). You can try putting the peat underneath the gravel as well, but it's somewhat messier.
