Hi Marko
There's no picture displaying - did you post it up on photobucket or some other account?
Am sure someone can help with a picture, and knowing which panaque you are talking about.

There is a link to a www.akvarij.net forum page in the original post, but it's now showing because the forum requires that you log in to see images. It probably works for Marko.

Can you check if pigmentation is like white circle with a very small black spot in the center?

Re: what is happening to my Panaque?
Does this color look like that caused by the reaction to skin parasites that cause "Gold Tetras" Hemigrammus armstrongi or Hyphessobrycon bifasciatus, to become gold to anyone else? That is what came to my mind. I have never seen this occur outside of the Characin group before but it is not a phenomenon that is well understood in the first place. Among the Characins it seems to be a fairly benign problem as the affected fish continue to thrive.

Re: what is happening to my Panaque?
Somebody else's royal did that when placed into a new tank. It went from normal to almost albino-looking. Stayed healthy, though.
An opportunity to routinely impose a statement... I'll pass. ;)

That's how we all learn mate(at least at first). Good luck with the fish try a parasite remedy as that is probably the cause. Rohan R

Re: what is happening to my Panaque?
I've had at least 10 L177 gold nuggets do this now. I still have no idea why, but it definitely wasn't parasite related in my cases (we sedated and scraped to be sure). I've had fish do this twice when I moved them from the store home. I don't know at all what causes it, but the fish I've had do it were fine and thrived for years afterward (and yes, their color returned to normal). Sorry, I know that's not much help. I haven't had a royal do it before, but it definitely looks similar.
