Online Store(s) in Liquidation

Post by Martin S »

Have just been sent a list of on-line aquatic stores who have gone into liquidation, with a confirmation link.
Is it OK to post here?

If you know that the list is TRUE, and not some sort of hoax/drumming up business for some other shops or otherwise "not true".

Am happy it's true as there is also a link to UK Data showing the credit situation.
On that basis I shall post, but please remove it if you feel it is not appropriate.
Please be wary if ordering online

Hi,
I took a look at some of those sites and quite a few have the same stock and same 4 plant sets. Might be one company with several names under the umbrella? Prices were identical for the few items I looked at too. If there's something anyone is interested in, check the shipping of the others just in case there's a closer warehouse.
I think I once ordered plants from one of them - higher count, good plants and cheap shipping to Canada.

Aside from the inconvenience - not much of a problem if you paid by credit card or paypal. It's all you cheque and switch/maestro users that need worry! :-)

Found an interesting thread on UK Aquatic Plant Society Forum on this store (with lots of 'branches'). Some very good experiences, some bad, like most stores. I checked the receipt for my purchase and it is indeed one of their 'stores'. But like I said, my experience was good, extra plants and good shipping.

If you're a member there, it's kind of an informative read. Reminds everyone to be conscious of the legalities of what they say online.

Dear Sirs

Reference : AquaMagic Tropical & Marine Ltd and AquaMagic International Ltd.

As of Thursday 26th February AquaMagic Limited took over all day to day activities from the above named companies. Within the group we had several companies, we took the decision that some of these were no longer needed.

As you could imagine the costs of running each was very high, all we have done is streamline the operation, all orders are being processed as per normal.

ANY suggestion that we are trading illegally is totally without foundation, all websites are operating TOTALLY AS NORMAL and will continue to do so.

If we wish to change company details that is surely our prerogative!

As a gesture of goodwill we take this opportunity to offer any of our customers a 10% discount on any order placed between Monday 6th of April and Tuesday 14th April, orders would have to be placed by telephone, this will give you the assurance that we are here, you can ask any questions at the same time if you so wish. To get this discount you will need to ask for it at the time of ordering.

It is very sad when a rumour can start out of something that is totally taken out of all context, we hope by contacting you all like this that this will allay any fears that may have been unduly caused.

Regards
AquaMagic Ltd

They will get an email telling them there has been a reply to this topic.

You can also send a message just to them using the "PM" button next to their name.

Cheers,

Hi Jools and thank you for your answer.
The problem is that the e-mail attached on his account here doesn't exist anymore, like the web site attached...
I have sent him a PM.

We have already asked them information on the order 15 days ago after the transport status became cancelled... This week, we have sent 2 mails without response, before web sites disappear.

The Living Seas seems to be no longer.

AquaMagic Ltd (if they are the company that owned them) trading office address is a Wetherspoons Pub according to telephone enquiries. (They do not give out their tel no anywhere, I wonder why!!!)

I cannot contact them by any means and they have over £500 of my money!!!

Whatever these people say DO NOT USE THEM.

I bought a vivarium from Premier-Aquatics about a month back too, and still awaiting refund.
(Same situation as all the others.. website down etc..)
(I was also getting emails from paul@thelivingseas.uk.com, about the refund)
Has anyone got a contact number for them? Bank says they can't do anything - and I need to contact them.. But with no website, how can I? :(

I've tried calling them; no answer.
I occasionally get 'this number is busy' - but have yet to speak to anyone.

I called my bank, and they can't do anything. They say I need to contact the company.
Like I'm not trying :/
Consumers advice also told me that the only thing I can do is to contact them and then be classed as acreditor; and they owe me money

But how is any of this possible when they don't pick up? :@

If they are really in liquidation, then you need to contact the firm of solicitors (or equivalent) that are looking after the restructuring/dismantling of the company.

Companies house has listing for the AquaMagic Tropical & Marince Ltd, and it's been running since 1998, and it's not in liquidation status [that's not to say that this isn't about to change - just that they haven't been registered "in liquidation" yet]. There are four companies with similar address (Weymouth, Dorset) under similar names.
http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/bfaef ... ompanyInfo

Checking "uk.com" on whois leads to:
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jhtml
Entering thelivingseas.uk.com in the search-box there gives that AquaMagic Internation Limited is the owner of the site.
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-s ... eas.uk.com

Not sure how much that helps...

I have just signed up to this forum because I have the same problem like most of you guys,

I ordered an EX1200 from thelivingseas, it turned out to be faulty and sent it back for a replacement, the second one was also faulty and sent it back for a refund, they promised me a refund within a few days, after 4 weeks I'm still waiting.

I have lost all contact with them via e-mail and phone.

I have decided to forget the refund as I give up.

But if anyone does manage to contact them, please give us their details!

Great forum by the way!

I can't believe it! I am in the same situation. I ordered a Dennerle CO2 system from them in January, still not received anything. I had an email late February from Paul at Living Seas promising delivery. I replied a couple of weeks ago as I had still not received it and have received nothing since! I paid by Maestro so cannot get my money back. :x

Right, after several phone calls I've managed to track down the company who are administrating the company.
I've rung up and given my details & the amount owed - so hopefully he'll ring back with any updates.
(I ordered from Premier-Aquatics; and TheLivingSeas was emailing me back; and AquaMagic is the parent of all of them, I believe)

For everyone else;
The company = 'Albert Goodman'
Guy dealing with AquaMagic Tropical+Marine Ltd = 'Ray Cleave'
(01823 286096)

Theres AquaMagic Tropical+Marine and also AquaMagic International.. If you ordered online in the UK, Ray will be dealing with it - So he says.
AquaMagic International Ltd is being administrated by -
Nicholas Pete
(01202853226)

The registration for the International Ltd is 05864252; but I don't know the reg for Tropical+Marine
(If anyone even needs the reg)

So try ringing up Ray Cleave and see if you can be added as a creditor and that they owe you money :)
Hopefully it will work for some, and at least some people get their money back :)

Unfortunately, if all these companies really are in Administration and not in restructuring phase, then it's bad news for customers who have paid but not got their products delivered, as the order of importance for companies in bankruptcy puts the "customers who have paid for but not received product" at the very bottom of the list - much more important to pay bank and tax debts.

If you can't ring, it might be a good idea to email
(Include what you bought, how much it was + your details etc)

Email: ag@albertgoodman.co.uk

I know that we'll be low priority, but this is the best we can do.. and it's better then nothing :/

Sure, I don't disagree with that. Sorry if I made it sound like it was pointless - it isn't. If there is money left after banks and such have been paid, then the rest of the creditors are paid a proportion of what they are owed. So if you are on the list, you may get some money back.
