I'd say the position and size of the eyes puts it well into the group.

Yann asks for a "teeth" shot, I would think because teeth would show whether it is which is a similar looking fish that has different teeth than other fish in the group.

Unless the "teeth shot" suggests otherwise, I believe that is indeed a 201.

I agree. It is not a classic H. inspector, but it is similar, so it would be L201 or H. contradens - those are the two candidates, basically.

To me, it looks more like a scobi, but I could be wrong.

Possible, but if we look at this picture:

I'd say that it shows smaller eyes and slightly more towards the side of the fish.

Again, a mouth-shot would help determine it.

Tomorrow I will try to get the teeth shoot, as soon as I have I will post it.

Thank you again to all of you!

I live in Mexico City and I have now 7 Lorcarids, it's not very easy to get them here but if you know where to look you can get nice specimens and I think quite low priced, for this fish I payed about 15 USD, is that a reasonable price?

I got an L200 about 3 weeks ago and it costed 16 USD, what do you think?

Prices vary from place to place depending on demand and availability, but also depending on the complexity of the route to the shop. In the UK, the fish has probably been through several steps of flights, and longer flights than in Mexico, which adds to the price.

I paid $30 for my 201. I would love to be able to get 'em for half that price.

I wish I could find some nice Plecs at those prices in the UK , but as Mat said by the time shipping costs etc are added the prices are out of this world for some species

Well, I saw L200 (about 3" TL) at Pier Aquatics on Friday and Saturday, and they were about £20. Since 16 USD is about £11, it obviously is about half the price. But the difference isn't that extreme. Obviously, if you get BIG L200 at that price, then that IS good.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but the lips on the fish in question is quite blue (in my opinion). Does this affect anything?

Although not great pics, your fish looks very similar to mine and I know mine is a Snowball Plec , I was in an LFS yesterday and they were selling baby (5cm) Snowballs for £8 ( approx $12) mine is apparently fully grown at 15cm

Anglerfish: Your fish are almost certainly a Baryancistrus sp. (or something closely related), based on the rather large, wide mouth.

I did look through the species photos as when I was given this one along with a tank load of Malawi Cichlids as well I was told it was a Snowball Plec, Baensch have it listed as Snowflake Plec under Baryancistrus Niveatus, but going by pictures listed on the site I have listed mine as B.cf niveatus as that is the closest picture to mine,
Was in Maidenhead Aquatics @ Fareham yesterday they have some really nice Gold Nuggets & Snowball/flake plecs in I almost succumbed to temptation

I'm a bit out of practice, so can someone explain the dentition difference in L201 and H. contradens?

Impossible only means that somebody hasn't done it correctly yet.
