Anyone want to play a game of guess who?

I'll start:

I have 5 branched rays in my dorsal along with my main Dorsal spine.
I am a catfish but tend towards surface feeding.

Theres your first clues.

is close but not that close as red tails don't have any really close relatives although I am suspicious that is in fact closer related than is generally thought.

think smaller.

I like to live in small rivers and creeks and like deep zones wher the current is slow the bottom is shady and sandy and I am must definitely an ambush predator some would say a little assassin .

It's a good guess but it's not the right answer.

Ok easy clue now.

I am a very rounded fish both Laterally and dorsally, my pelvic fins origin are vertically in line with the end of the dorsal fin and I have small eyes and six barbels.

I have cryptic colouration which is definitive of my family and I am sometimes mistaken for microglanis when young much to the detriment of dwarf cichlids and such like in a comunity aquarium.
