Gravid Cory?

Post by tbone »

I'm a bit worried about one of my corydoras. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a gigantic belly on one of them and thought he or she was sick. I posted in another forum and a couple of members said she was gravid. Well it has been a couple of weeks and there is no difference in the size of the belly.
Tank information:
65 gallon (36" long) planted with small smooth gravel, ph 6.8, water soft (peat extract), ammonium 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10 ppm. Water changes 50% every 5-7 days.

Basically the cory seems happy and is very active, I'm just concerned because I have never seen such a fat belly and the fact that it was not that way a few weeks ago?

Is this something for me to be worried about?

I am no expert on diseases but that cory definitely has something wrong. Even when full of eggs, a cory's belly will never get that big.

I would agree...it looks a bit too extreme to be just eggs.
