If it happens again, maybe you can leave the second batch with daddy? just to see if it will work? as you mention, that would be both easy and fun to watch!Haavard Stoere wrote: Last time I did this another female laid her eggs a few days later. Maybe this will happen again.
I really should, but it really hurts when whole batches are lost. At the moment I agree, but when the time comes I might change my mind. Especially if artificial hatching works better this time.DutchFry wrote: If it happens again, maybe you can leave the second batch with daddy? just to see if it will work? as you mention, that would be both easy and fun to watch!
I have never heard that, and I hope it is not so. That would be a tragedy. I will have to do some googling on the issue.husky_jim wrote: One question thought....I think i 've heard that Akryflawina can make fish infertile. Are you/or others familiar with this?
Online fishkeepers seldom has secrets. It is nice to get feedbacks and advice.Cristoffer Forssander wrote:It's very ni´ce of you to share all the information! It's really helpfull for us other, planning on breeding these fishes!
I don't know how sensitive Hemi-Eggs are, but from my experience with the extra sensitive L183 F0 eggs i only put snails in order to do the job...Haavard Stoere wrote:Online fishkeepers seldom has secrets. I searched "Akryflavin infertility" and found this:

I am glad I only used one bottle for 300 liters. My tank is 720 liters, so it was around half dose netto. Maybe I should remove it at once with charcoal? What do you guys think?
Edit: I have added charcoal to remove all Akryflawina.
Should I add something else tomorrow? All eggs are fertilized and healthy at the moment.
I never tried the paintbrush, but I sure will... personally, I use a simple air pipe. I put the pipe into the water with my finger blocking the other side. The water can't come in... Then I place the entrance of the pipe very close to the egg and I "open" the other side, letting the air flow and the water come in, within the egg. Finally I softly push air in the pipe. This go in and out of the pipe is normaly sufficiant to help the fry to hatch without any problem or wound.Haavard Stoere wrote:27 have hatched. About half of them hatched with the aid of a scalpel, fingers and a soft paintbrush.
