Can anyone confirm that this is L 146? It came in as a lone specimen with a group of so-called "Papa Panaque."

Thanks Klaus. Given where it came from, I was pretty sure. Seeing another photo helped. Kind of an ugly fish, but what can you say when they are free?

They're not ugly, just a little weird looking. Did you get it at a LFS, or did you collect him/her yourself? Are they rare? If you weren't sure of what species it is, it leads me to believe they must be hard to find.
i dont think that there rare.. Theres been a shipment here with alot of those.. they call them carachama de bola, and shanes right they come in with papa panaques I think there from peru..
Too many gorgeous loricariids
So hard to obtain! Grrr....
BigBlue, I meant "ugly" in that way that catfish people appreciate. They come from the Colombian/Peruvian border area, but I do not know which river. It was held aside for me at the exporters here because they had never seen one. DATZ lists L 146 as coming from Colombia, so they must be exported from both Peru and Colombia. I agree with Mokmu, reminds me of a GIANT Otocinclus!
