Well, the catfish talks are temporarily over. Listened to a bunch of loricariid talks today, and was not surprised to find that Chaetostoma and Sturisoma are going to be split. Some of the talks are not easy to understand, though, because they were presented by people whose native language isn't English.
I was talking to John Friel about collaborating on a mochokid project, and it seems that he has collected a good series of Synodontis acanthomias. He told me that the species has spines on the humeral process, even as juveniles. He also told me that they are very distinctlyspotted, although the spots fade with age. Guess this confirms that what we are seeing in the aquarium trade isn'tS. acanthomias.
Shane, The AES is having a silent auction and one of the items up for auction is a book on the fishes of northern Colombia. I put in a bid of $60 on the book (hope I get it). Somebody is also going to be presenting a talk about a book on the Fishes of Leticia.
All for now, more later...
