I have 4 of these cats in a tank in the garage but as i dont spend much time in there i dont get to see them as much as i'ld like to. The temp is around 60', I am thinking of bringing them indoors putting them in my central americain cichlid tank which the temp is 74', i would drop this down to 68' while they adjust to there new surroundings.

Both tanks are apx 300uk gallons.

Would this be ok?? Please share your thoughts.

I think this will be fine.

Most often i see these for sale & kept a "standard tropical" fish rather than the temperate species they are. i've also seen them flourish & have seen large individuals returned to stores looking in very good condition.

My only real concern is what c*****ds are you intending to mix with them?

Thanks for the reply, sorry if I seem impatient but i am looking to do this tomorrow so i need to adjust the temp over night ready for them.

I have a mixture, jag, Oscar, 3 boccoutii's, 2 argentea, 2 synspila, 2 red tiger mot's, 2 chuco godmanni's, 1 chocolate, i think thats it... oh and 2 red hooks.

The tank is fairly peaceful considering whats in there and it could be nice having a bottom dweller/s. I was thinking of some pim's but as I already have and like these i thouht i'll make some enquieries.

It's a fair mix of c***lids but as long as there is some good cover for the cats it should work out fine.

Cheers, i'll be moving them at some stage over the weekend and will let you know how it goes.
I know i was worried about adding some plec's (2 L075, 3L200) before but they settled in fine and are out most of the time, so fingers crossed the same will happen with the cats.

Keep an eye on the cichlids in the first few days, I've found these fish to be fin nippers when they are kept on their own and then introduced to other fish. However, that was goldfish and was a relatively small tank.

I agree with Richard in that I see no issue with temperature.

Thank you for the replies. The cats have been in the tank a while now and i havn't seen any problems. The cats are starting to come out during the day now, which is good!
