2 different species?
I'm curious about this advertisement thru my local fish club
http://www.gcca.net/classifieds/classif ... ting/13703
The first pleco looks like a hyp? the 2nd and 3rd to the right looks like a peck?
Am I correct? or way off

Re: 2 different species?
Possibly different species, yes. It looks like the L340/L129 etc complex, and the little one has a clear E on the snout, which the other two doesn't (at least not as visible in the picture).

Re: 2 different species?
Hi!
All 3 fish are Peckoltia species.
the smaller one could be a L134, but not so sure...the coloration is a bit off to be one...cold be a juvenil of the adult form of the 2 other fish
Possibly or a closely related species...but without other and better pictures it would be hard.
Any info on the origin?
Cheers
Yann

Re: 2 different species?
This is a pic of the odd fish out from another site (this is the auctioneer's pic as well, I take no credit for it):
The omega iris flap is much wider in this than most peckoltia that I am aware of. At the very least, they aren't the same species, and, IMO, probably of different genera of fishes (hypan, imo).

Re: 2 different species?
Good call Jon...
by looking at the smaller one again, I have to agree with you on it being likely an Hypancistrus species!!
Cheers

Re: 2 different species?
But which species is it then?
in the picture Jon posted, the fish hanging upside down looks again like L134 imo
but i agree, the other two have very hypancistrus-like eyes!

Re: What am I???
There was a thread not so long ago in the ID thread about this. I'll try to find it...
Here it is. The first picture in the below link is missing, but it's the same picture as the first one in this thread.

I'm pretty convinced the L134 is a correct ID - don't quite know what the other fish is.

Re: What am I???
I would guess that the two species to the right in the first picture is Peckoltia sp. L-015. And the last one is a Hypancistrus specie, maybe L-270

Re: What am I???
One of the two species is definitely Peckoltia L134 - all pictures show the same two species (at least that is my understanding).
I'd also hazzard a guess that the other species is or one of it's close relatives. But others seem to believe it's a Hypancisrus species.

Re: What am I???
The l-134 from that other topic is imo a different fish. These photos show peckoltia vittata (imo), and a hypan, probably, like erland said, L-270.
Re: 2 different species?
Hi guys these pics that are posted are mines. Just to make things cleared. I bought 5 plecos and all are suppose to be L-134. When I received them it turn out that only 2 are L-134 and the rest I couldn't tell what they are. He told me that it breed for him.
Re: What am I???
thanks guys well I guess I will stick with L-15 for the 2 bigger one and for the small one I'll stick with L-270

Re: 2 different species?
To avoid confusion, I think we should have one thread on the subject, so I've merged in the other thread (and removed my post linking to this thread).
Further:
The fish at the top (inverting) on this picture is without doubt L134. If that fish in not one that is in question, then we should ignore that one and concentrate on the others.

Re: 2 different species?
yes just ignore that pleco. Would I need a better pic to get a better ID?
