maybe he doesn't know it either
the first time I encountered these was in a shop in Belgium, and they were labelled as "South American Rhamdia"
this is a shop specialized in South American fish, discus and potamotrygons.
ofcourse the nasals threw me off rightaway......I guess maybe they or the wholesaler thought "if we label is correctly, we can't sell it to all the cichlidkeepers, cause of its' origin"
but not everybody is such a catfishgeek. I wonder how many eventually were dumped in between the Geophagus and the Discus.....

I took the liberty to merge your NEW posts with the old topic on the same fish, as I think it makes more sense to have them all in one,.

Well I went back to my LFS where i purchased my cat. They have alot more for sale and they are labeled "Asian Red Tailed Catfish" and this is not something that any of you thoguht it may be. Even tho everyone here seems to be a liitle more knowledgable then the LFS. Thought i would share my finding and see what you all thought. Thanks for all the help tho.

is also called Asian Red Tailed Catfish - as these are albino, it is impossible to tell as the colour is uniform, but it is more than likely H. nemurus as already suggested.

Re: channel catfish? I hope not please help, bought from pet shop
It doesn't really make a whole lot of difference if they are H. wyckioides or H. nemurus. I'd still bet on the H. nemurus because these are KNOWN to have albinos. I'd guess that if we counted the exact number of rays in all the fins, we could find out - but that's much more work than it's worth. For all intents and purposes both are agressive loners that grow bigger than regular fish keepers can comfortably manage. [actually, that they are loners is not a bad thing in itself - it would be even worse if they were uncomfortable in groups less than 12, as that would mean that you really needed a big tank with very good filtration - imagine a dozen 2ft fish in one tank/pond...]
