Cory Pandas.

Post by Violence »

I have four Cory Panda's since about two weeks, more or less, their all doing fine. Their in a 55 gallon tank with three Pleco's, 6 Cichlids, four Mollies and four snails. They all get along fine. (Except the Panda's chase after the cichlids sometimes, it's funny they're 5 times as small).

I'm a bit worried because my Cory Panda's keep going up and down on my window, not to get air, just racing up, and letting themselves drop back down and they stop about 1cm from the gravel.

They don't do it for air (I have one bubbling wall which takes a bit less than half the tank, and two extra smaller bubblers in two corners of the tank). All the water parameters are very good.

Is this normal?

I want to get 4 more, what do you think?
Here's a picture of one of the cuties.

Yup, pretty normal for corys. Strangely, when Corydoras are introduced into a new tank they ALWAYS seem to go crazy, exploring every inch of it at a frenzied pace, but once they've settled into a tank they seem to settle down and not do it anymore, unless they're interested in spawning.
Megalechis thoracata, Callichthys callichthys, Brochis splendens (and progeny), Corydoras sterbai, C. weitzmani, CW044 cf. pestai, CW021 cf. axelrodi, Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps, Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus (and progeny), Panaque maccus, Panaque nigrolineatus, Synodontis eupterus

My own experience with many cories is that they will play a great deal in the water flow coming from the filter when they are not searching the sand for bits of food.

They're great workers, and really, really adorable. They go through the bubble wallback and forth, really fast turning on themselves. They're on fire. I'm happy they're playful.

Should I get 4 more?

Good good! If I'd have 10, would it be too much?

So I'd buy 6.
If not I'll buy 4.

You can never have too many, except if the tank is not big enough. 10 would make quite a good group and would bring out their more 'natural' behaviour.
