This is the new tank. I will add more plants and stuff, but for now it's the best I can do.

A much better home for your plecos :D
I hope the antique trunk is really sturdy, since a 55 gal, filled, is about 650lbs!
It looks a bit precarious perched on that trunk. There looks like only four contact points with the glass. Good luck with that :?

What sort of filter did you get in the end?
The H. Inspector is certified, so it's exactly what they have, they don't have many though. The guy really knew what he was talking about.
I'm still willing to make a bet that they aren't H. inspector! Get some photos next time you're in the store. I'd love to be proved wrong!

I have to agree - that was my first thought when i saw the picture. Not giving it sufficient support all over could mean you end up with a cracked tank...not good for your fish or the people below you!

I'll add wood under the tank, but I just didn't have anything and I had to get it set-up as fast as I could.

You can get a plain metal stand at Big Al's for around 110.00$

It's worth it for the peace of mind. :)

I have only ever been to one shop where the pl*cos are treated correctly before sale.
Which shop was that racoll?

Whats with the blue gravel?

I like your Tatoo.

Does your apartment stink with all those animals?

Why did this person want to chuck them out the window, surely chopping their heads off is easier?

I will never cease to be amazed at what is going on out there in the world of keeping animals.

racoll, those stats are terrible, are you having one of those moments like I had a while back?
not thinking of packing it in are you?

Good luck with your fishy adventures violence.

Well the blue gravel was bought for the Betta, I had him in the 10 gallon and as I said I wasn't expecting to get more fish. So I just put the rest of the gravel in the 55 gallon, and I needed a bit more so I went to buy another bag, but mixing it with brown would look a bit unplasant so I just stuck with the blue. And the background is AWEFULL but it's the only one they had (I wanted aquatic plants or somehting like that bu thtey were too short) and my wall isn't pretty haha.

The guy wanted to throw them out of the window because it would be "funny to throw them on car windshields and if they're alive it's funnier because they will move". Personally I can't explain that and it isn't funny, it's CRUEL and DISGUSTING.

People are stupid, I work with a variety of people (for piericngs and other modifications) and by experience, if they can't even take care of a few square inches of their bodies, how would they be able to care for ANY animal out there? Seriously... People ARE stupid.

I saw the fish in Wal-Mart, this was awefull, I wanted to buy all of them to save them (that's how I ended up with a Degu (Australian rat), Bearded Dragon, three cats (that I now have, plus about five others that were dumped infront of my building and that I found homes for), three pirahnas (that the guy was starving to detah match them), which I only kept for three weeks and found a home for them, a few dogs that I temporarily kept because they were abused,. So it's not only in the field of fish keeping, but also animals in general. Not to mention how children (human children that is) are treated...

My home smells very good thank you! Cats are very clean, I clean the litter box twice a day and change it every two-three days. The Bearded Dragon doesn't stink (I change his cage about once-twice every one-two months), my rat is pretty clean too, he doesn't stink at all, I change his cage every two three weeks.

I like my tattoo too hehe, I got about 70 hours of tattooing and about twenty piercings and more heavy modifications. If you wanna see some browse through my Photobucket album; http://s156.photobucket.com/albums/t17/kKreuz/

Oh and sorry for my horrible spelling my english is good, but I never went to english school so the spelling can be a bit handicapped.

Which shop was that racoll?
Pier Aquatics in Wigan. All the fish were in just fantastic condition.
racoll, those stats are terrible, are you having one of those moments like I had a while back?
The stats are not official. Just a guess from what I have seen. Some shops are obviously much worse than others.
I just wish shops would start to bother to find out how to do it properly. Would save a lot of fish, and money!
not thinking of packing it in are you?
I do have to get rid off ALL my fish, but not through choice!

I think my english is alright, but sometimes I get mixed up with the grammar, so my sentences can get confusing and I don't see it. Like some words are "the same" but they don't mean the same thing in english than in french.

I went back to Aquarius (http://www.aquarius.qc.ca) I asked more questions about the H. Inspector, he said they aren't that hard to keep. But they are rare and usually the stores don't know for sure what they are and people buy them as "secondary" fish, so they get neglected and die, he said; "people don't understand that those are "primary" fish, not only window-washer/algae eaters (he included all the Pleco's in that), they buy them for very small kids, like goldfish kept in spaces that are too small, and way too many fish- other animals as well- die... They need their own diets/care, and most of the time even those basics aren't provided". Unfortunetly this is true, and cruel. He called them "Galaxy Pleco's", they only had one grown male and female and four babies. They're exactly like on the pictures I shown previously and the same as someone posted a bit higher. I'm pretty sure it's the same one. They actually take the pictures of their fish themselves if I'm not mistaken. And they're quite expensive (about 40-50$ I think). They give the fish amazing care in that store, they're all healthy, active, well fed, very well kept, ALL the fish are quarentined when they arrive at the shop, sometimes they breed them too, the staff is amazing, they really know what they're doing (I asked questions that I knew the answers, and they answered perfectly), I really trust them and I will be buying all my fish and stuff there!

P.S I got the vaccum thinggy! I have to put the tube in my mouth and suck on it and the water comes out of it, i almost swallowed some delicious fish water. Mmmm. What's that thing called? A sucking vaccum?

At racoll, I'm sorry to hear you have to get rid of your fish :(

This website is amazing and again; thanks for all your help.

Well then they aren't then

The fish pictured in the link you posted is . The scientific name and the L number given on the website are both incorrect for the fish pictured.

The photo was also "stolen" from http://www.jjphoto.dk, so is definately not the same fish as being offered for sale.

This is what I mean about being really careful with knowing what you are buying. If they are being sold as galaxy plecos, they could be , which grow much larger!

Until you know what kind of fish you have, any advice on how to keep it is pretty much meaningless!

I was sure they were taking their owns pictures  ! They even do commercials and fish photography for cell-phone companies, I wonder why they didn't take the pictures themselves!

Anyways, as I said, I have no intention of buying a H. Inspector or any other Pleco for now, I have enough trouble to keep those I already have :P

I think my Male Betta wants to procreate, immidietly, he's been blowing bubbles since has a view of the Pleco tank (maybe he wants the Mollies though, not sure :P) but he does NOT cooperate with the female Bett'as it's really cute!

Since I got the 55 gallon, I barely see my Pleco's, I miss them! I even gave them names! Bubblee, Bubbler and Bubbles, don't I have a great imagination!

I'm sure they'll come out more once they've settled in. Catfish of all types tend to disappear once they're put into an unfamiliar tank (except corys, which go on exploring trips!)
Megalechis thoracata, Callichthys callichthys, Brochis splendens (and progeny), Corydoras sterbai, C. weitzmani, CW044 cf. pestai, CW021 cf. axelrodi, Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps, Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus (and progeny), Panaque maccus, Panaque nigrolineatus, Synodontis eupterus

Ohh I think I figured out how to quote people weehee (I never posted in forums before, I'm super technologically impaired! Well not really, but about some stuff I'm slow, so pleaseee be patient and loving towards me.)

Well they came out twice. I went looking for them (I was worried and wanted to check on them) two of them look a like and it gets me super confused so I don't know if I saw one or two or which one of them, I saw the Albino, he's SUPER hyperactive. Yesterday the one that like to suck my hand and not let go no matter what came out of him hiding place, was in the middle of the tank, my boyfriend went to the tank to see him (he's in love with my fish!) and he sucked on the window. This was funny, the fish flew and hid somewhere, poor boyfriend, the Pleco's don't like him
