Hello / Bonjour

Hello people from everywhere!

I'm a newly registered member from France, although a regular user of the site :D
So, my name's Stephanie, I'm from Brittany.
I guess I'll come across some other French speakers here (Yann Fulliquet, Kashmir...).

OK, I have 2 tanks, both south American:
- 450L with small characidae (hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis breeding now and then, I have a few youngters that are now adults) with a baryancistrus L081.
- 1 100L basically for my astronotus ocellatus loving couple & my 2 gibbiceps (purchased under a false name, naturally), but as American fish sometimes grow big, I "adopted" 2 groups of metynnis hypsauchen (now 8), a mating pair of hypselecara temporalis, 2 young heros efasciatus sp Rock Teil, and 3 platydoras costatus.
Most of them were were rescue adoptions.
This tank is only temporary, I plan to get a 2 500 L because I need more length.

As far as catfishes are concerned, I'd love to get a group of L081. I'd also like to add a few more platydoras in the future tank, and I dream of bunocephalus... but that's when I get better about handling parameters

Kenavo!

Hello Steph!!

Bienvenue sur PC!!!

Des soucis sur les paramètres??
Les Bunocephalus ne presentent pas de réel problèmes de maintenance!!!
Ils sont plutot tolérants!!
A++

thanks to both of you!
no Yann, no problem but I don't want to add any more inhabitant to my existing tanks now.
Besides, I haven't had time to read about it so I don't know much (only what the Mergus says) & I don't like to take chances...
One member of the forum I'm part of has one...
The 400L tank is not packed, but... aaah, now I feel tempted!
Well, one thing at a time.

It's not in my plans for the immediate future, but please feel free to give me food for thought (just in case, you know..).

PS: I once registered but never managed to write properly on the newsletter.

Hi!!

I once had 2 species of these, B. verrucosus and B. coracoideus, hardy fish, easy to feed.
B verrucosus doesn't burry itself much, I even seen him "hanging" on plants, moving much of the time by hydropropulsion rather than using its fins...
B coracoideus likes to burry itself in the sand and rest there for the whole day, coming out only by feeding and during the night and they would swim like Crazy fish...

I nver witness any predatory behaviour by my B verrucosus but I saw that from B coracoideus, preying on small fish swimming by...

If you have further question, may I suggest you to open a thread with your question in the section "South American Everything else" or in the french section!

Cheers
Yann
