Acesterorhynchus ?

Post by Charly EON »

Hello

I wonder if the genus name Acesterorhynchus given for the really large mouthed catfish from Rio Negro (locally called maiacu) and upper Orinoco drainage illustrated in O. lucanus' website is valid.

Who can help ?

I believe the correct name is Asterophysus. Acestrorhynchus is a genus of predatory characoid fishes from South America.
