Pgymy Cory breeding

Post by captmicha »

I have two species of pygmy cories that I'd like to breed. They're all in the same school but can interbreed, right?

I've looked up articles but haven't found much and already tried what they suggested.

I have around ten, a mix of males and females.

Greetings. If you wish to successfully breed pygmy Corys, I would suggest getting 6 to 9 of one specie and give them a tank of their own. Ten fish of mixed specie in one tank will probably not lead to any spawning, at all. Additionally, crossbreeding between pygmy Corys is highly unlikely, to the point of not being an issue.

I have a small group of C. pygmaeus which have just spawned. I've been sucking up some of the smallest fry I have ever seen for the past 3 days. They spawned, as do all my Corys with no intentional efforts on my part. As in most fish keeping - "less is more." Good luck with your spawning attempts. - Frank
