ID my syno please

These were being sold as yellow syno's, the guy said they were an undescribed species. I'd really like to know what they are, how big they'll get etc. Sorry for the quality of the pictures, They are very hard to photograph!

Looks like Synodontis waterloti but better picture would be great. Snout looks too long for it but angle of photo can make that difference. Look at waterloti pics from Cat-eLog.

For me It could use a better picture but it looks interesting...what I can suggest is to net it then hold the net against the glass and then take a close shot or have someone else take the picture, it/they looks quite young as well so you may have to let it mature a bit to get a good identity but jippo seems on the right track

It certaily looks like the waterloti complex & the name

being sold as yellow syno's

has been used frequently for waterloti & close relatives (probabaly bein undescribed)

I looked up waterloti on the catelog and they look almost identical to this picture:

I have been trying to catch them for a better shot, should've done that before I put them in the tank.

I'm sort of dissapointed if that's what they are. The other syno's available were the schoutedeni's which seem a lot nicer. I took the chance and had the nameless ones sent up without seeing them.

Well, I'll continue in my netting efforts..

Do not be disappointed at all, I would like to have some of these, it is easier to get the schoutedeni...at least where I am

Schoutedeni is a great syno, without doubt! but IMO i think you'll find yours a bit more rewarding, so please dont feel disappointed. These are also a fantastic fish

I caught one! Still really hard to get a good pic though. Here's what I got:

If they are the waterloti they get bigger than I was planning on. I have 8 in my 75g right now, how fast do they grow? Are they likely to eat smaller fishes? Like spice rasboras (Boraras urophthalmoides)? The rasboras seem to be pretty fast mid/top level swimmers..

This looks to be (IMO) an unidentified species very close to waterloti -i don't think this gets as big as waterloti & most synos are not the fastest groing of fish
