To post or not to post, that is my question

Post by dreamcat »

I read in the 'Forum Code of Conduct' that you'd prefer we not make trivial posts. Understandable enough. By that reckoning, this may be one of them, and if so i apologise profusely, but i'd like to know if it's appropriate to post thanks when a reply is carefully answered..? Not wanting to create bumf, but not wanting to be rude either...

Thanking you in advance on this occasion

Hi!

It is always a pleasure to receive "thanks" from people that you have help, but I think this can be done by simply sending a private message to the person ...
Cheers

I think that "rule" was really put in place to prevent the "Wow, nice fish!" posts, that have very little relevance to the thread and just create clutter. If the you want to post a short message that is on topic, go for it.

What I was looking for when I wrote the code was what both mods have written above. If you want to say thanks, then do it personally (using a PM), it means more.

If you want to say thanks but clarify a point or ask a further on-topic question then do both.

Whenever posting ask yourself the questions why am I posting this, who would benefit from it and might it be somewhere else.
