e-visit in Krakow (PICS)

Post by worton[pl] »

Hey,

last weekend I was in Krakow (not first time, but it was first time when I actually had a camera with me).

I hope you enjoy watching this very few photos of most beatufil city in my country:

Good place to have a meal. Traditional polish food much better than in any restaurant and much cheaper. Full dinner for less than a pound!

There is a lot of maps in the city so you won't get lost that easy:

Generally it's just a very small part of all attractions you can see :) or visit. You may enter almost every interesting building (however taking pictures of inside is almost always forbidden :/) And this city got a special climate, I just love it :).
So if you have a free weekend and no idea where to go :foggie: think about this Old Royal Capital City of Krakow in Poland ;).

Regards.

Thanks for the tour Worton

I like to see the buildings with the elaborate brick work...very different than what I do but I can appreciate the amount of time it must have taken

The black and whites are amazing! Have you ever thought of entering any of these into a photograph competition? These are Gallery quality! :D Amazing eye for structure and subject matter. The angles on some are quite striking. #5 and 8 i think (the one w/ the lanterns going down the the covered walkway.), these pictures would make amazing artwork pieces hung and framed w/ black or metal frames.

I've been to one :). It's name is Popularny - good place to get a headache. Is it good? Well it is hard to say, it has got an underground climate (placed in a huge cellar of very old house), metal music, dark dressed people all around and cheap beer so everything what tigers love the most! However I dislike it somehow ;). There is a blues pub I really love and it's name is Awaria. I will ask friends about more pubs and let you know ;).

Generally if I can chose between going to a pub and spend some time on fresh air with friends (drinking beer of course ;)) I always choose the second option :D so I'm not the best person to ask about pubs.

Long weekend is when in Norway? I'm asking because 26.04.2008 in Krakow we will have a lecture by Evert van Ammelrooy about his last trip to Tanganyika - worth seeing I guess.

Regards.

I can agree that Krakow is a very beautiful city & well worth a visit  - i was there the same time as Worton but our paths never crossed :( - alas i wasn't allowed a camera :( as we were on a stag party :D
I think if you look very carefully at one of the photos you can see me way in the background wearing my Wisla Krakow football shirt!!!!

Besides the fabulous buildings there are many more great things to see & visit - the galleria shopping centre is very impressive (remember to buy gifts for he loved ones back home!), there are some great bars etc etc

We did 4x4 offroading where the terrain was so extreme we kept getting stuck & also shot some live weapons (glock, ak47, etc) which for us brits, is pretty unusual.

I even had time to go & see some superb tanganyikans, including S, Granulosus & Irsacae which were great, 'cept i couldn't bring them home

Thanks for sharing. I have always wanted to visit Poland if for no other reason than I have met so many cool Poles in my travels.

A truly beautiful city, and one I would like to visit one day.

Sometimes if one looks up in a city, which has been so called 'modernised', where tower blocks overwealm the older buildings; the arcitecture of the older buildings is a wonder to behold.
