death of LDA 01

Post by hector »

I bought 20 LDA 01 strait from the importer after 15 days they all died in a lapse o
10 hours. The water was OK. Temperature 27 celsius. They had been eating artemia
nauplis, carrots, zuchini and spirulina disk. I changed 10% water daily. The tank
was 100 litres. I cannot explain the reason of the sudden death. Any help is welcome.

Were there any symptoms before they died?

When you say that the water was fine, what tests exactly did you run? 15 days would put you at the prime peak for the beginning of the nitrogen cycle, with ammonia at toxic levels. A 25 gallon tank, with 20 good sized plecos in it, is going to reach critical condition quite quickly. How long had the tank been set up?

Hi Barbie,

You seem to be explaining what sounds to me like tank cycling or something. Any good sites I can read up on the subject?
Thanks.
