Zebra Advice Please?

Post by sugarandopium »

Hello everyone =)

I am on a hopeless quest for a Zebra pleco. I'm looking into ordering one through the mail =( Not too keen on that idea but it seems the only way, heh, Do you think it would survive being shipped from Florida to North Jersey?

Also I have a PH of roughly 7.6, and a tank mainly of angels and corys, would it be OKAY to keep in there?

Any advice or experiences of ordering these exquisite creatures through the mail and survival rates would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much. =)

Zebras are poor at competing for food. If you get one, make sure that you quarintine it in an aquarium where it will not have to compete for food. I would recomend starting off with bloodworms.

zebras tolerate high ph! I think that is u think that ur zebras would be able to eat, then thats no problem, cuz i dont think dat any of the fishes in ur list would be able to harm a zebra :)
Too many gorgeous loricariids

i used to have the name of a guy on long island that breeds them and is okay with pick ups. if you want, i'll take a look around and see if i can find his email. it would save you on shipping, just have to make the trip out there. i think he was asking $40 for 2". i know he has auctions on aquabid sometimes, but i don't bid because they always include shipping, and i wouldn't be shipping (i'm in nyc)

Bennystropical has zebras for sale on aquabid. I have gotten zebras from there before and they were shipped to me overnight and are all doing very well. It is worth a try if you really want one!

wow yes yes, good to hear this.

Benny is who im considering ordering this from.

And shipping is a bitch on this 35$, and not only paying it, worrying that it will arrive alright.

I'd honestly rather drive to Long island, I'm 2 mins from NYC, so yes please look into that for me!!!!
