hi, i;m new here

Post by ShadowDancer10k »

hi, my name is Katherine and i currently own as of now only 2 corydoras catfish, i will be getting more soon though. their names are-

Catty-albino cory
Pandy-panda cory

i am planning on a bronze, peppered and maybe spotted cory catfish to get.

i also own some guppies, 6 bettas fish, and 1 guinea pig but will get more pets sometime next year. so i have a zoo pretty much. :D i have currently 9 tanks/aquariums but have room for more fish as not all the aquariums are established yet. i recently got into the fish hobby this year and am learning alot about fish care. so that is pretty much it for now.

Welcome to planetcatfish where you will find lots of useful information and very knowledgeable fishkeepers.

Corys prefer to live in groups of their own kind, so instead of getting one of each, they would be much happier if you got a group of one type, like pandas or bronze, whatever takes your fancy.

Welcome to Planet catfish. I would echo Daragh's advice, and also to make sure if you get several species to match them up in terms of requirements. For example, pandas and paleatus like cooler water than many of the spotted species. You can use the Cat-eLog to search for ones that fit your parameters, or just browse the cories, or at the very least, read the species profile before you buy it. Don't count on the LFS people to give you accurate information. I have killed my share of corys by ignorance, which is why I joined this forum.

Hi! I agree with what they said, more of one species or at least 3 of each. If you can tell if you get some boys and girls.

I have 12 peppered cories in a 20 long, and it's great fun to see them school and spawn. :D

thanks for the welcome. i think i will pick the bronze cory type then, cuz i had been wanting that one more. i only really have room for 3 more-all bronze corys that i will be getting. oh, and my 2 that i have right now, the panda one likes to follow the albino one alot, they like to hang out, its really cute. i have them currently in a 10g all by themselves right now and i am also planning on adding guppies to the tank. i had some adult gupps but they did not make it. i think one died from birth complications, maybe, i don;t know. but i have 9 of the fry left, the others didn;t make it due to negligence on my part. :( but i won;t make that mistake again. anyway, 6 of them are going in the 10g with the corys. thought i would mention that. the other 3 are going in the 5g i have. anyway, i didn;t know that when i got cory catfish that they would quickly become some of my favorite fish to own. i hope to learn alot about corys and possibly other types of catfish here but right now i am into corys specifically.
