Cichlid Buddy

Post by sthomas048 »

Hello all,

I dont post often enough here, for the last few months ive been planning the contents of my new aquarium. Ive finally bought a Juwel Rio125 and now i need some kind advice from the experienced Catfish owners out there.

I plan on keeping a pair of Tbar Cichlids (http://www.fishforums.net/content/forum ... r-Cichlid/) in my 125l/33gal (81x50x36cms) tank. Id love to add a few Catfish - anyone got some ideas as to ideal tankmates ?

My water is soft and PH neutral.

All advice is greatly appreciated :)

Stephen.

Hi There

I am presuming a t bar c*****d is an A.sajica?

A lot depends on what you'd like - do you want to keep south american cats or try something from another part of the world? Are you looking for something that hides away or is active?

ideally you are probably after something that only gets to 3 or 4 inches. Sajica are not overly aggressive except sometimes around spawning/raising young so you will need to provide some retreats whatever you decide.

i could suggest some of the smaller doradids (humbug cat, spotted doras), maybe a pair of ancistrus?

If you give us a bit more info we could probably advise you better

Hi Richard,

Yes a Tbar Cichlid is an A.Sajica, they come in two different colourations. Im looking for cats that will get on well and be happy with the Tbar and vice-versa, im new to Catfish (i find all of them fascinating) so im quite open to suggestions. The main thing i suppose is the tank will be centered around the pair of Cichlids, but i want to have a nice diverse community in there if possible. I wouldnt want a Cat that hides too much.

Thanks
Stephen.
