Baby syno. euppies.

Post by Syno_Eupterus. »

Ok...I fell for some a pair of hard to find ( hard to find ANY synos in my neck of the woods) baby euppies. They are in a ten gal right now being quarantined. I was going to wait until I maybe moved to consider new euppies, but the oppertunity came along. Here's to hoping I didn't make a bad choice getting them early.

The baby euppies are approx. 1.5-2"
How big will they have to be to join my three elder fully grown euppies and a couple of five- six inch cichlids?.

Can they live with bettas and kuhli loaches as babies?.
I feel kinda like a noob now...but it's been a long since since my euppies were babies you know.

how big are the "full grown" ones? Given space & cover they could be mixed straight away (after quarantine)

At 1.5-2", I don't think it's a problem mixing with bettas or kuhli loaches.

As long as the cichlids are not one of the more aggressive species I see no problems.

I personaly would not put them with bettas or kuhli's... eppies will eat anything that fits in their mouth... even at 2inch.

Full grown syno. eup. are ten inches long.

Not with the bettas...Yikes...Ok that's a complication I hadn't counted on. I was hoping if they didn't get on with the kuhlis they could live in one of the
male betta tanks.

I've mixed 6-7 inch ones with two 1.5-2 inch ones.

I don't know whether I had weird fish, but the bigger ones chased similar sized ones away, they played with the smaller ones and shared caves.

Still, the more caves the better. :)

I haven't known eupterus to be picisvores. I kept a 4" eupterus with 0.5"
cichlid fries without problems.

I guess when in doubt, I'd rather just house my male betta in another tank even if kinda a nusence to do so.
