Unlike last time when I posted after the event, I can now inform you beforehand so you can watch a whole hour of primetime terrestrial TV on catfish.....(UK only unfortunately).

Its on this Friday (9th) at 2000 on Channel 5.

To tie in with it there is also a Nature Live at the Natural History Museum London, all on weird fish.

I'm always conscious of the 11 ft White Surgeon that live in the Snake River portion of Hell's Canyon when I go swimming there, even though I know they are harmless. The profusion of rattlesnakes and prickly pear cacti pose a more serious threat to recreational visitors.
I would have think twice about a night swim in waters home to Silurus glanis, despite the improbability that one would decide to sample a leg and pull me under. Sheesh, those are big catfish.

This show will probably make it to one of US TV's Discovery Channels, eventually.

These definitely sound like names to discourage visitors.

The series runs on Animal Planet too. I haven't found a schedule for the new episode but the Candiru episode airs next week (at least here it does). I'll keep an eye out for this. THANK YOU for this info. I know it soulden't be mentioned, ever, but I get a couple of these in a few weeks

I think it's the History channel is airing a "Monster Quest" for the largest freshwater fish in the world. There's a run down of the show and it's next airing date on the channel website (http://www.history.com). I know that there's a couple catfish mentioned in the description, along with "trout as big as a boat"..
