Help please - brace bar adrift

Post by Richard B »

Got a problem which is concerning me. I have a Juwel Vision 260 (or is it an older 240???) bow front tank. Today i noticed the central brace bar had come adrift (as one of the hook ends had weakened & opened up, so i can't re-fit it. Can i get a replacement? Is the tank still safe & if so for how long? Is there anything i can do to help the situation - i was thinking of reducing the water depth. I note the plastic lid pieces now seem to not fit exactly due to "growth" of the plastic finisher around the top

An urgent suggestion would ease my mind & be appreciated

-----------------------------------------------

Seen that i can get spares - how long will it be ok without - any ideas???

As I have no experience with any Juwel product  I can not go into most of your queries.

However, gett the tank empty ASAP, because such bars are very important for the tank. It is said Juwel does provide space parts, bus, as said, I can not confirm out of my own experience

You could rebrace it with some acrylic or glass using Underwater Aquarium/Pond Sealer from Ultimate Aquatics mabie.

Considering that the braces are fairly thin plastic (at least in my Rio 400), I expect that they serve very little strengthening purpose.

You may want to check that with Juwel tho' (local shop shouold be able to tell you, really). Also check if they have spares.

Thanks everyone - i have ordered a spare straightaway, & reduced the depth to 75% full so the filter will still run.

Mats -the undeside of the brace bar contains a metal strip so it is not quite the thin plastic you suspect - that said the hook ends are only plastic.
