I recently revamped this tank and here are a few photos.

There are five L46 Zebras in with them that I very rarely see and one adult Ancistrus sp.3 for algae control.

Quality discus, very nice indeed.

i was a bit thrown by the first picture as with the vertical tiles creating the rear terrace it looked as if the fish were in front of the tank - how stupid am i???

Nice fish!

How you manage to keep the zebs in the acidic water that Heckel's require? (or the opposite)

Are the Heckel's wildcaughts or not?

Thank you for all the compliments, they are all appreciated.

These discus have become acclimated to my tap water which has a pH of 7.4 and TDS of ~339 ppm.
Eventually I will begin lowering both through RO water relacement after water changes to about pH 5.5 and ~45 ppm TDS. My understanding is tha L46 Zebra Plecos also come from soft acid water.
I have also added about 20 Sturisoma fry and am hoping they find enough food to thrive. They have become overcrowded in their spawning tank and I finally had to remove about 100 fry and distribute them among several other tanks. I have a new hatch of Sturisoma
every two weeks.
Here are a few more photos of my Heckels. The zebras rarely come out where they may be seen.

I have a total inflow into the Heckel discus tank of about 12 tank volumes per hour but the incoming water is diffussed through many points so the there is no particularly strong flow in any given location.
The terrace combines the utility of bare bottom discus aquaria with the advantages of a planted tank.
