I think the picture of Peckoltia vittata @ Fishbase looks like a L270
Is fishbase in general a reliable source of information? Is it to be trusted or are the more errors than dependable facts?

Fishbase contains a fair number of errors and cannot be considered absolutely reliable as an information source. I would be very wary of information they provide on fishes that have little commercial value as food fish (which means most fishes), as they seem to be the most inaccurate for those species.

- Interests: The "passion" for fish has subsided somewhat the last couple years, only currently keeping two corys and what might be an LDA-33, as catfish goes.
Not very reliable, no... You should as far as possible check other sources in addition to fishbase. I think they have maximum size for Acanthicus adonis at 20 cm (8") and Acanthicus hystrix at 53 cm (26"). This adonis picture surely proves them wrong... http://discus.ms/images/adonis6000gr.jpg
