Most difficult ID yet???

Post by kezza »

...because of the bad photos...

I was wondering if anybody could help ID this catfish. I got a few from my local (non specialist) fish shop. Sold as Butterfly catfish.

Sorry for the rubbish photos, but any tips of species or family would be great.

Many thanks in advance.

Kez

Not difficult at all. This is no catfish, but a Cyprinid species from the genus Gastromyzon, Pseudogastromyzon or whatever they call them these days.

Sorry, the overlap of the fins indicate Beaufortia. Family name is Balitoridae or river loaches.
