Does my Bristlenose Pleco look healthy?

I was wondering if someone could identify what variety of Bristlenose I have. I also would like to know if his color is right. He actually looks darker to the naked eye. However, in the photo he looks a little yellowish. Thanks.

- it is the most common form of bristlenose in the trade.

I'm not 100% sure, because there are several species of bristlenose that look very similar, the only real way to tell them apart (aside from VERY close scrutiny) is to know where it came from in nature - and the one I sugget is currently not avaialble as a wild-caught fish, only captive bred ones.

There certainly isn't anything in your picture to say that it ISN'T the species I suggest.

I thought that he might be a common bristlenose. I haven't seen many pics posted that look like my fish. Maybe thats because they are not the most attractive critters. However, I love mine even if he isn't beautiful.

I am glad that he looks good. I want to make sure that he is healthy. Thanks for your quick responce

It is an "acquired taste", the look of bristlenoses. But I do love mine - I have dozens of them.

Nice pics MatsP. I wanted to ask how often you feed your BNs sweet potato. I give my BN slices of Zucchini once in a while. I have trouble getting the slices to stay at the bottom of the tank. I feed algae disks about 3x per week. I put in dried macro algae on a vegetable clip about 2x per week. I have a very mixed population of fish so feeding time can be competitive. I guess I would like to know what kind of feeding schedule you have for your Bristlenoses.

I have a 55gal fully planted tank:
PH 7
KH 8
GH 10
Nitrates 10
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
16 - 18gal water changes weekly
Co2 injection
Eheim ECCO canister filter
76-77 degrees F

Fish:
One Bristlenosed Pleco, 4 Siamese algae eaters, 3 upsidedown catfish, 12 neon tetras, 2 peppered corydoras, one pearl gourami,and 4 female guppies.

I aim to feed mine fresh vegetable of some sort every day - sometimes I don't achieve my goal (e.g. there are no suitable vegetables in the fridge at feeding time).

Courgette/zucchini can be made sink by attaching or piercing with something suitably heavy - I have a set of cheap teaspoons for that particular purpose.
