My rapidly growing Synodontis eupterus

Post by bslindgren »

This is a photo of my larger featherfin catfish. It's a nice looking specimen, but a bit of a bully, particularly intolerant of my Corydoras sterbai and the smaller featherfin. My Ancistrus sp(3) also gets into skirmishes over good hiding spots, but surprisingly the Synodontis cats usually have to yield. I'll probably try to give both of them to someone with a more suitable tank and perhaps get some S. nigriventis instead.

It's about 4 inches now - grew from 2 inches when I bought it in February. I just moved both of them to a 120 gallon display tank at my place of work. The one pictured just got a bit too boisterous at times, and I also suspect he ate things that weren't supposed to be on the menu (like smallish kuhli loaches - I had 4 of them that all disappeared).

Yes, they can be territorial bullys but they rearly kill or damage other fish.
With adiquate hiding/housing places they should be ok.
