baby twig catfish

My pair of twig catfish laid eggs and they hatched.

I have about 15 of the babies still alive and they have laid a new batch of eggs that he is diligently watching.

I have kept these fish for a number of years and this is my first experience with baby twig catfish. I have tried to get some pictures, but they are not the best. Thanks to the article in Shane's World, I had some idea of what to feed them and what to expect. My family just laughs at me being so excited about them.

If I can figure out how to post a picture, I have a couple. They were about ten days old when I took the pictures. My son was in an accident the day they started hatching so I was unable to do much with my fish until he got out of the hospital and things had settled down some. Thank goodness I had gotten the kale earlier so it was ready. Just in case they actually hatched.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge if this is posted in the wrong place.

Hey, Congratulations. Those babies are so cute. Even more delicate looking than my Sturisoma fry. Just a whisp with a mouth and tummy.

Thanks!!! The pictures have been a real challenge.

I have been trying to count them, but since there are quite a few live plants in the tank, it has been a challenge. I think between 25-30.

I happened to be watching when one of them actually hatched. It takes them quite a while to get out of the egg and then it just sank down until it landed on a plant leaf where it stayed kind of curled up for quite some time. They do seem really sensitive and vulnerable.

I have seen some of them eating, so maybe some will survive.

They seem to like whatever is on the glass and the filters to eat for the first week or so.
