Does anyone know when the second volume of this excellent book will be available in English.

I've checked their site for you but so far there's no announcement of an English translation.
Here's their site in case you want to see for yourself:

wich is a smart thing to do, but don't hold your breath.....
part 2 passed the initial deadline with over 3 years (!) and they're also not that fast -if ever- with answering emails and such.
Mergus makes great books, mind, but they're not the fastest working people on the planet.
and the not or extremely late answering of mails is something that seems to bug many many German firms, LFS, wholesalers and bookprinters.
no clue why that is, but I've run headlong into this one a few times myself.
I think they just don't like email very much for some reason. a phonecall works like a charm however. maybe they're firm believers of a more 'direct contact', cause once on the phone they're very very well-mannered and things get rolling pretty quick.
but they don't like to use mail for some obscure reason that eludes me.

Hi sidguppy. I got a reply this morning, it was short, but at least they replied:
"Hello, the translator is working on it.
Mid-end next year should be realistic.
regards Mergus"
The bad news is the translator is no flash Gordon, the end of next year. Argh. I would have translated it myself by then. Ah well just have to wait, I suppose.

You could learn German by then......The bad news is the translator is no flash Gordon, the end of next year. Argh. I would have translated it myself by then. Ah well just have to wait, I suppose.
It is worth buying it in German though, as you can still get a fair amount of information from it.
The photos are also excellent.

I'll agree with Racoll on that. Do you have volume 1? Volume 2 is set up the same way. There are also some good free websites that translate phrases from German to English. They can deal with scientific jargon and current lingo. A good German to English scientific dictionary doesn't hurt, either. When all else fails, the pictures work wonders for me. More than a year later and I'm still going through it.

I tried a few teksts from Spanish to English, but they all translate Rio Negro into black river, and make a lot of other funny errors. Once I tried English to Dutch. It's good I read it in English before, because I would not have understood it.bronzefry wrote:There are also some good free websites that translate phrases from German to English.
The tekst were all related to fish keeping, I'm sure other, more common teksts would not be messed up that badly

Hello: Catfish 2 end this year, available end 2008,
Atlas 5, maybe in 3 years, Vol. 6 never?

I understand that, although the translation will complete at the end of this year, it will be available at the end of next year.
